{"id":625,"date":"2013-02-15T13:57:29","date_gmt":"2013-02-15T13:57:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beechpark.com\/?page_id=625"},"modified":"2023-08-29T10:06:42","modified_gmt":"2023-08-29T10:06:42","slug":"emt-reverb","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/beechpark.com\/index.php\/services\/emt-reverb\/","title":{"rendered":"EMT Plate Reverb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have one EMT 140 reverb plate remaining.\u00a0 These were developed by the Institute F\u00fcr Rundfunktechnik, Hamburg and started to be manufactured in 1956 by EMT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EMT #1<\/strong>:\u00a0 Originated from Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beechpark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/EMT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-678\" src=\"http:\/\/beechpark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/EMT.jpg\" alt=\"EMT\" width=\"252\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beechpark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/EMT.jpg 600w, https:\/\/beechpark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/EMT-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><b>What they do<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>These are wonderful units, each with it\u2019s own unique sound.\u00a0 The reverb decay time can be adjusted from between 0.5 of a second up to 5 seconds approximately. \u00a0When applied to a track it\u2019s just instant beauty whether it be on vocals, drums, stringed instruments, keyboards or just about anything really.\u00a0 The reverb gives a lovely sense of bigness and space and even when used sparingly the sound is still retained in a mix, unlike most \u00a0plugin reverbs.<\/p>\n<h3><b>How they work<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Briefly, the plate reverb is an 8\u2019 x 4\u2019 of sheet metal about a 1\/16\u201d thick which is suspended on a frame by springs all around it.\u00a0 In the centre there is a driver \/ transmitter.\u00a0 There are two pickups, one near the left side and one near the right.\u00a0 On the other side of the metal plate there is a variable dampening device.\u00a0 When a sound is sent into the plate via the transmitter it minutely vibrates it.\u00a0 The pickups collect these vibrations and return them to the studio in stereo.\u00a0 The length of the vibrations is controlled by the damper.\u00a0 The tighter the damper is pressed against the metal, the shorter the reverb.\u00a0 Simple but very effective.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Audio samples<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The following are vocal &amp; and snare drum samples, without and with each of the plates.\u00a0 The subtle differences may be difficult to hear unless you turn up your speakers but you\u2019ll get the idea.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F3370219&amp;show_artwork=false\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b style=\"font-size: 1.5em;\">How to get this reverb on your track<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>This is how it works.\u00a0 You send us your audio file(s) via Wetransfer.com.\u00a0 Please send it at your session sample rate.
